For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

1. Northwestern Atlantic (Post-Tropical Cyclone Tammy):
A strong extratropical cyclone (former Tammy) associated with an
occluded front is located a few hundred miles east-southeast of
Bermuda. There is a possibility that this system could regain
tropical or subtropical characteristics while it meanders over the
northwestern Atlantic through early next week. Regardless of
development, the system has the potential to bring gusty winds and
heavy rainfall to Bermuda during the next couple of days. Interests
in the area should monitor the progress of this system. For
additional information, including a hurricane-force wind warning,
see the High Seas Forecasts issued by the National Weather Service
and products from the Bermuda Weather Service.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...30 percent.
* Formation chance through 7 days...low...30 percent.

..ASTA LA VISTA TAMMY.. ..LAST ADVISORY ISSUED ON POST TROPICAL CYCLONE TAMMY.. ..OCT 26, 2023

So now that Tammy is winding down and lingering between two blocking high pressures, we could see some of the remnant showers from Tammy get caught up in the counter-clockwise flow around the high pressure and end up over the Bahamas or even south Florida.

Most of the ensemble models show possible development in the Caribbean, so I will keep a close eye.

..TAMMY 11:OOAM EDT UPDATE OCT. 25, 2023..

TAMMY STRENGTHENING SHOULD COME TO AN END AS THE ENVIRONMENT BECOMES UNFAVORABLE. DRY AIR, COOLER SEA SURFACE TEMPS, AND STRONG WIND SHEAR WILL HELP TO WEAKEN TAMMY TO A TROPICAL STORM.

ANOTHER TROUGH MOVING IN FROM CANADA WILL TRACK EAST AND HELP TURN SANDY EAST A BIT. AZORES HIGH COULD BLOCK SANDY FROM GETTING VERY FAR, THOUGH. FORECAST ENSEMBLES ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE, BUT SANDY WILL NOT BE AFFECTING LAND. IT COULD COME CLOSE TO BERUMDA, BUT IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DIRECT DIRECT HIT. I WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR.

..TAMMY MORNING UPDATE OCT. 24, 2023..

Tammy is moving into a hostile upper-level wind shear environment. This will eventually weaken the tammy down to a tropical storm. There are still models showing Tammy turning west, affecting Bermuda, and eventually turning back to the east, and that would be due to another cold front tracking east-northeast and off the east coast as the high weakens.

Then after that, another high builds in by November 2–3, and that will crank up the winds over the Gulf and the East Coast.

So far, the U.S. mainland is looking clear as I continue to monitor the tropics.
