The strong wave west of the African coast is not looking as impressive as it did 24 hours ago. The convection (thunderstorms) associated with this wave is slowly diminishing. I will continue to monitor it as it tracks westward.
Upper level winds over the northwest Caribbean remain hostile for development at this time. This are will also be monitored into next week...RTW

TRACKING THE TROPICS JUNE 14, 2017 1233 PM EDT
TRACKING A STRONG TROPICAL WAVE NOW ASSOCIATED WITH A 1011 MB LOW THAT MOVED OFF THE AFRICAN COAST EARLY YESTERDAY MORNING.
THIS LOW LATITUDE WAVE/LOW IS IN AN AREA OF LOW WIND SHEAR AND NO SAHARA DUST OR DRY AIR. SOME SLOW DEVELOPMENT OF THIS WAVE CAN OCCUR AS LONG AS IT STAYS IN THE LOWER LATITUDES DURING THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
THIS SYSTEM HAS A 10% CHANCE FOR DEVELOPMENT DURING THE NEXT 48 HRS.
Still Monitoring northwest Caribbean for tropical cyclone formation during the coming days and into next week. This system has a 20% chance for development during the next 5-days...RTW

A low latitude aggressive wave that moved off the coast of Africa earlier this morning is holding together fairly well. At these low latitudes the wave remains in a favorable shear environment and some development could occur if it stays at this low latitude as it tracks westward.
Still monitoring the northwest Caribbean. Upper level shear over the Southern Yucatan is unfavorable for development at this time. This area will be closely monitored...RTW

The National Hurricane center is giving the northwest Caribbean a 20% chance for tropical cyclone formation during the next 5-Days. I will keep watching as models continue to suggest development and some suggesting not much development. This flip flopping will continue during the next few days. Upper level shear strong over the northwest Caribbean at this time so development not possible at this time...RTW
