SEL1 URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Tornado Watch Number 261 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 655 AM EDT Wed May 24 2017 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Tornado Watch for portions of North Florida Southern Georgia Coastal Waters * Effective this Wednesday morning and afternoon from 655 AM until 300 PM EDT. * Primary threats include... A few tornadoes possible Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible SUMMARY...Severe thunderstorms capable of a few tornadoes along with damaging winds are expected to gradually increase through the morning. This includes an early-day risk across the north-central peninsula near a remnant boundary, while other storms will move in from the Gulf of Mexico and Florida Panhandle and intensify within a very moist and increasingly unstable environment. The tornado watch area is approximately along and 55 statute miles north and south of a line from 35 miles south southwest of Marianna FL to 25 miles north northeast of Daytona Beach FL.
