..HURRICANE LEE 0500 PM EDT UPDATE SEPT. 9, 2023..

 


Lee is tracking slowly west-northwest through dry air and a marginally favorable wind shear environment, but some re-strengthening is possible on Sunday as Lee moves into a more favorable area with no shear. As I mentioned back around the start of the hurricane season, this would be a battle between the storms and El Nino's wind shear. The forecast track remains unchanged and continues to show a cold front there to turn Lee northward. Rough seas and life-threatening surf remain the main concern for the Northern Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico and the Eastern Bahamas.
