The tropics are expected to remain quiet over the next seven days, according to the National Hurricane Center. Currently, three tropical waves are being monitored, but none are showing signs of organization at this time.
A Bermuda High has been in control, keeping the deepest tropical moisture focused over the Gulf. However, the high is forecast to shift eastward over the next several days, allowing winds to turn more southwesterly and draw deeper tropical moisture north and east.
It remains uncertain how widespread the rainfall impacts will be across Florida, but rain chances are expected to gradually increase through the weekend and into next week. Periods of showers and thunderstorms could produce gusty winds, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours, which may lead to localized flooding in flood-prone areas.
