UPDATE TO TROUGH IN THE CARIBBEAN
An area of showers and storms that has been lingering over the Eastern
Cuba, Jamaica and Haiti for the past few days is, part of a trough left
behind by a departing front over the Atlantic. This trough has been
tracking east and dumping heavy rains over this area. Now that this
system is detaching from the frontal boundary, it remains as an upper
level trough in this area and continues to produce heavy rains over the
Caribbean waters and possibly Dominican Republic. These heavy rains
could produce flash floods and deadly mudslides in higher terrains. A
Bermuda High pressure is forecast to build over the Atlantic and steer
what is left of this system toward the west-northwest in the coming
days. This could enhance the rains and storm chance in the coming days
here in South Florida...RTW

TROUGH OVER CUBA MAY BRING WELL NEEDED RAINS TO FLORIDA
A trough across Cuba and a portion of the Bahamas is producing heavy rains and storms over Cuba and Jamaica and now Western Haiti.
This trough will begin to track west-northwest within a day or two as high pressure builds over the Atlantic and steers this system toward the Florida Peninsula. How much rain will see here in Florida will depend on the evolution of this system. So far models are not suggesting a significant rain event but I will keep monitoring the forecasts.
There are no signs of tropical cyclone formation and the probabilities are low at this time 0%.... RTW

UPDATED TROPICAL WEATHER PAGE
I am monitoring a trough draped across Eastern Cuba that is producing heavy rains over this portion of the island. System seems to be tracking east northeastward but high pressure is forecast to build over the Atlantic blocking any northeastward track. So within the next few days will see what ever is left of this system moving over southern Florida. The Canadian model so far is the only model that showed weak low pressure developing along this trough and tracking west-northwestward. I will keep you posted... RTW
