...STORM INVESTIGATION EAST OF SAVANNAH GEORGIA IS PRODUCING HEAVY RAIN SOUTH INTO FLORIDA...STORM INVEST/TROPICAL WAVE APPROACHING THE LEEWARD ISLANDS...HEAVY RAINS AND GUSTY WINDS WILL SPREAD OVER THE ISLANDS OVER NIGHT AND ON SATURDAY...

 

  • The new storm Invest east of Savannah GA had a nice center of circulation earlier today, but now seems to be less pronounced.  However, whether this system develops or not, it will produce heavy rains and a potential for flash flooding is likely tonight and of Saturday. This system forecast to track northeast along the coast.  So far models are not hinting at strong development and this system has a Low 10-10% formation chance.
  • Invest/tropical wave east of the Leeward Islands will be moving into unfavorable environment, and formation chance are low 10-10%.  Heavy rains and gusty winds will spread over the Leeward islands tonight and Saturday.

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

Active Systems:
The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on newly 
formed Tropical Storm Bonnie, located over the southwestern 
Caribbean Sea.

Near the Southeastern US:
Satellite and radar images along with surface observations indicate 
that a low pressure system has formed just off the coast of 
Savannah, Georgia. Surface pressures are high in this region, and 
development, if any, of this system should be slow to occur while it 
drifts northeastward along the southeast U.S. coastline during the 
next day or so.  Regardless of development, this system is 
expected to produce heavy rains, which could cause flash flooding 
across portions of southeastern Georgia and the Carolinas through 
tonight and into Saturday.  See products issued by the Weather

office for more details.

Near the Windward Islands:
A tropical wave located over the Windward Islands is producing 
disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Significant development of 
this system is not expected to occur while it moves westward into 
unfavorable conditions over the eastern Caribbean Sea.
