Texas should closely monitor the progress of Beryl, as it is forecast to become a hurricane and possibly make landfall anywhere from the Texas-Mexican border northward to the middle Texas coast. Heavy rains are expected, which can enhance the potential for flash floods.

The upper-level low south of Beryl is undercutting Beryl's southern cloud structure. This is helping to weaken the cyclone as it traverses the Yucatan. Beryl is forecast to strengthen back to a Cat-1 as it makes its approach along the Mexican-Texas border or points north or there.
