THE PROBABILITY OF A TROPICAL OR SUBTROPICAL DEPRESSION ARE INCREASING OFF THE SOUTHEAST U.S. COAST.

The likelihood of a weak tropical or subtropical depression forming is gradually increasing as the NHC has upgraded the 2-day formation chance to 30% and the 7-day formation chance to 60%. Ensemble models show possible development off the northeast coast of Florida and track whatever develops, if at all, over offshore Carolinas. None of the models are showing significant strengthening at this time. Conditions are marginally favorable in this area at this time. Heavy rainfall is the main concern over western coast of Florida today. Looking like a soggy weekend for Florida and also into early next week as this system slowly drifts north-northeast.

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of America:

Near the Southeastern U.S.:
An area of low pressure is forecast to develop along a weakening 
frontal boundary near Florida or the Atlantic coast of the 
southeastern United States on Friday or Saturday. Environmental 
conditions appear only marginally conducive for some slow 
development, but a tropical or subtropical depression could form in 
this region over the weekend or early next week while the system 
drifts northward or northeastward. Regardless of development, heavy 
rainfall is possible across portions of the southeast U.S., 
particularly across the west-central Florida coast. An Air Force 
Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft is scheduled to investigate the 
system on Friday, if necessary.
