I'm monitoring clusters of strong thunderstorms associated with a strong tropical wave that will be affecting the northeast coast of South America in a day or so. This wave is producing gusty winds, lightning, and heavy rains. Where the wave is located, upper-level conditions are somewhat favorable; if it develops some, it would be a short-lived storm system. Regardless of development, they could see some flooding.
The hurricane center has a low chance of formation investigation over the central Atlantic due to a strong wave that will move off the coast of Africa early next week. Models are not showing much development; it is still too early to tell. I will keep you posted.
Florida will see an increase in showers and storms due to a stationary front and the development of several low pressures that will move over the peninsula this weekend and into next week. So far none of the models suggest development, but I will continue to monitor.
Enjoy your Labor Day weekend!
